MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

The Museum preserves a conspicuous number of Japanese and Southeast Asian musical instruments.

The collection includes most of the main instruments played for traditional Japanese music. Most of them date back to the Edo period (1603-1868) and are beautiful artistic pieces.

Southeast Asia is represented by the instruments used by pīphāt orchestra, Vietnamese and Burma pieces.
