Nepal by Jacopo Fasolo is an extraordinary illustrated volume that transposes on paper the vision of places, but also the personal emotions of a journey to the border with Tibet, noted in detail on the pages of his travel notebook, published by Marcianum Press.
From September 13, 2001, the day after the attack on the Twin Towers, to October 16 of the same year, Fasolo, with two traveling companions, Roberto Ruggerone and Mario Rossello, moved between Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Pokhara, Lo Manthang and Upper Mustang. A region that remains one of the few areas that has maintained its ancient spirit and traditions.
What makes the story even more extraordinary is the way words and drawings are perfectly integrated, creating a real illustrated volume. The watercolor sketches tell us of a journey marked by slowness, through which the engineer manages to experience, and not only visit, the places where he is, reorganizing thoughts and images after his return. Peaks, valleys, fortresses, gompas and villages come to life in his personal, but precise graphic and narrative vision.
Jacopo Fasolo, born in Florence in 1940 but Venetian by adoption since 1945, in addition to being an industrial manager, was part of the CeSADA group for the realization of the general inventory of Islamic architecture.
The presentation will be attended by Stefano Stipitivich, Giorgio Baldo, Mario Po'. The event is organized in collaboration with the Dante Alighieri Society - Venice Committee and with Marcianum Press.
