Tablets available for families

The Museum of Oriental Art in Venice makes tablets available to its young guests with the App Museo Orientale: look, touch, discover! , to transform the Museum into a place for active visits, accessible to all types of users, capable of satisfying curiosity by communicating scientific content in a fun form through multimedia and interactivity. Dedicated to children aged 5 to 14 and their families, the tablet will feature:

una App, Museo Orientale: look, touch, discover!, che permette di giocare con i tablet del Museo scoprendo le opere del museo. Sul sito sono inoltre disponibili un’audioguida e 5 fascicoli tattili per gli ipovedenti.

Tactile materials for young and old

Various tactile and playful materials are also available in the Museum. In particular, five tactile booklets designed to meet the needs of people with visual impairments have been produced; they can be enjoyed by all children, whether sighted, blind or visually impaired, thanks to the combined use of black and braille texts and both visual and tactile illustrations. Copies of the files are available at the museum, which can be borrowed for educational activities in schools, along with a guide to their use for the use of teachers and parents.

A museum staff member is available by appointment for a special guided tour using these materials.

Augmented reality

At the Museum it is possible to discover the inside of the Japanese sedan chair using augmented reality. Ask the staff for glasses!

TOMATO

Did you enjoy the Museum of Oriental Art? If you are between 5 and 12 years old, you can continue playing at home with the stories from the Museum. Ask the staff for the free TOMATO kit, The Original Museum Available To Overall to take home with you. In the box, you will find a kamishibai (portable theater) to build, a monkey to dress up, and tiles for a memory game that can also stimulate the creation of new stories. And if you love digital games, download the Tomato app for new activities with the monkey on your cell phone. TOMATO, the original museum accessible to all, is an initiative funded by the European Commission as part of the Creative Europe program with the aim of increasing the accessibility of places of culture and knowledge, particularly for children and young people from socially marginalized backgrounds. In Veneto, it has involved the Museum of Oriental Art thanks to Venetian Cluster and the Pleiadi Group. Kits available while supplies last.
